Artist's Comments

Shiny paper and jade glue. The inspiration behind this mask derived partly from my long attraction to greek mythology, and the rest in the transformative delight of masks I made as a child. Violent, feminine, demonized- Medusa seemed an enjoyable choice for a project meshing the two.

It was once told in Symmyrnea... That whoever would talk to pine barks in the forest, write the mystery on the sea with ancient woods and take those faces to the isolated rocks on an island, would find the road to OEGGEM. And...(the end is the beginning)

This is interesting. Nicely hand-made indeed, I'm delighted by masks (still) myself. Have you heard of Peter Callesen? He's quite a crafter himself (though not exactly in the realms of masks).

Nİce job, if you just color it you can use it in a helloween party :)

The trick is not to find treasure in the mind, but to keep it with open eyes

I'd love to see the patterns you used to develop the planes of the face. Very austere; fitting for a greek tragedy.
